Message from West Suffolk Hospital regarding blood tests

Following the news of National Covid Lockdown 3, we have agreed with WSCCG that will we reduce Out Patient Phlebotomy Opening times to enable phlebotomy staff to offer further support to the In Patient phlebotomy team at WSH.
The Phlebotomy department at West Suffolk Hospital will be open from 07:15 – 16:00 with effect from Monday 11th January 2021 until further notice. All Saturday appointments will be cancelled with effect from Saturday 30th January 2021 until further notice (booked appointments on Saturdays 9th, 16th and 23rd January will be honoured). Please encourage all patients to book an appointment for their blood test so we can maximise social distancing by limiting walk in patients. If this is not supported we are likely to move to an appointment only system for GP patients.
Newmarket OPD Phlebotomy is receiving unprecedented numbers of people coming to the Phlebotomy department. The team will be implementing a booking system from Monday 18tth January which will be on a first come first served basis; patients need to ring 01638 558442/558445 to book an appointment. Patients who turn up without an appointment will not be bled and will be advised of the booking process/ number.
Opening hours at Newmarket – Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 3.45pm and Fridays– 8.00am – 12.45pm.
Please note there are currently no changes to opening times for Sudbury Community Health Centre.
These changes will be kept under review should the Government advice change
